Join your neighbors and other community volunteers on Saturday, May 4, at the third annual “Roots & Roofs” event, spotlighting neighborhood beautification, as well as new and renovated housing in Weinland Park.
Most event activities will be centered at the Godman Guild Association, 303 E. Sixth Ave.
9-11 a.m. DIY workshop on how to troubleshoot your house, including roof, drainage, masonry, and wood ($5/person). To register, call (614) 221-4508 or visit columbuslandmarks.org.
9:30 a.m.-noon Plant flowers, prep community gardens, and pick up litter.
Noon-1 p.m. Enjoy lunch provided by Local Matter and a short program highlighting Weinland Park’s exterior home repair program.
1-2:30 p.m. Visit some new and renovated houses or take the WP History Walking Tour.
In the morning, residents may purchase flowers at deeply-discounted prices to plant in their yards. Supplies are limited, so only one flat of flowers per household. The cost is $2 for one flat and $1 for a half-flat. Bags of mulch will also be available at a good savings to residents.
Volunteers also will receive an attractive t-shirt celebrating “Roots & Roofs” in Weinland Park.
